This project focuses on dams in the Narragansett Bay Watershed.
There are over 1,000 dams in Narraganset Bay. Many of these dams were built over a century ago and are nearing the end of their lifecycle. In the coming decades, communities across the region will need to decide what to do with their aging dam infrastructure. This website aims to provide information about dams, possible strategies for addressing old dams, tools to help facilitate a conversation about dams, and an interactive map to help visualize the social and ecological dimensions of dams within the watershed.

The ultimate goal of this process is to be able to decide and take action to address aging dam infrastructure in the region. An open and transparent decision making process is the foundation that will then allow for a project to move into the next stages of design, permitting and implementation.
